Connect to Thrive was set up in 2016 by Dr. Sarah Hulme.
I am an experienced psychologist and have worked with children and families for over 20 years. The idea of Connect to Thrive came after becoming a mother myself. I realised that a lot of the advice given to new parents can be rooted in opinion rather than in evidence. I decided that it would become my mission to ensure that parents, schools and young people had access to the most up to date evidence and research in order to make an informed choice for their own lives.
Gradually, connect to thrive has grown and we now work with a group of like minded psychologists across Scotland to deliver a high quality service. We also regularly liaise with other professionals who may be working with a child or young person including Local Authority Educational Psychologists, Speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, and others.
I truly believe that if we can raise one generation of children gently and with full regard to their emotional, social and psychological wellbeing, then we can change the world!
As a psychologist and a parent, I realised that judgements of how we work with, or raise our children can weigh heavily on our feelings and capacity to provide an environment of nurture and growth. When we know the evidence behind our decision making, we can move forward with confidence
